The premier of Ontario, Doug Ford has fired the board at Conestoga college and appointed themselves to do the job. This is not the first educational institution he has done this to in Ontario since 2025.
The Ford government also wants to appoint the chair for the Waterloo Region in this coming election.

The slow trickle is definitely ramping up

Is anyone concerned about these actions continuing towards communism? Maybe that's a little strong for some....

Anne Marie I agree with you It seems that Ford is determined to take over all levels of the educationsl system from the school boards to the colleges and in our area the Regional Government as well. But he doesn't want anyone to have access to his or his governments emails or documents. Is there something to hide? Who was behind the land grab in Wilmot Township -the Ford government? I think so. We are definetly seeing more of our rights and freedoms being taken over by big government. Once these rights are taken away they are not given back. Government officials at all levels of government were elected by the people to serve the needs of the people who voted them into power. Wow that certainly doesn't seem to be happening. As Canadian citizens we need to be informed as to what is happening in our local communities for a start. Knowledge is a powerful tool. We need to follow local or municipal government and the education system and if we see something that we don't understand or support then we need to stand up and speak out with emails or phone calls or letters to politicians or the newspaper. Our actions today will sustain and inspire future generations. Our silence is our compliance and yes things seem to be ramping up whether we like it or not. "Just because you don't take an interest in politics does not mean politics will not take an interest in you"

I totally agree with both Anne Marie and Sharon on the trajectory of this government encroachment but in this particular case, Conestoga College, I believe something had to be done. I have a squash partner who teaches there and he's been telling me for some time about the excesses taking place there particularly regarding their President John Tibbits whose salary and retirement package were outrageous! He was not surprised at all that the government took over.

Can you give me more details?....I did hear something about John Tibbets. Was he the only board member that concerns had been raised about?
