I think that's a bad argument in my opinion, because everyone locks their doors at night. If you end up in the wrong house when doors and windows are locked there is no excuse for it. I just think because usually home invasions happen at night with limited visibility, if a home owner is threatened by the idea of going to jail with life they might overthink defending themselves and could end up getting hurt by the people who have already broken the law.
