Nov. 2025 Delegation to Cambridge

As part of the 2025-26 budget process, I presented a proposal to the Cambridge City Council (linked above) that promised to save significant money for Cambridge taxpayers by scaling back or eliminating the Partners for Climate Protection Program (PCP), a global initiative being downloaded onto municipalities. Partway through my 5-minute speech, as I was presenting two very pertinent charts (linked below), Mayor Liggett interrupted me questioning the relevance of what I was saying. Even though I felt the charts were key to my presentation, it threw me off for a moment and had me questioning my trajectory. In retrospect, I believe it may have been a deliberate attempt to slow me down or stop my presentation entirely. I managed to persevere and finished as planned but I certainly did not appreciate the interruption.

Edit Time/Date:
Hi Peter,
Showing the graph regarding the earth's fluctuating temperatures over hundreds of thousands of years was relevant and important. The graph showing the minuscule amount of carbon that the city of Cambridge produces was also highly relevant. The region of Waterloo, including the city of Cambridge is going full steam ahead with "Climate initiative's" based on projections and cherry - picked science. As a Cambridge resident, you made valid points and raised good questions. If city councilors questioned the real reasoning behind these programs through the PCP, they would make a wise choice in withdrawing the city of Cambridge from these voluntary programs. These programs only serve as a reason for more data collection and government interference and control in our personal lives under the guise of "saving the planet", not at all based on real science.

In my opinion it was strange that she cut you off while you were clearly presenting your point quickly, there was almost zero reason to stop the presentation and I know from personal experience how that can pull out of the flow you have going during your presentation. I'm glad to see the graphs being put up to show how little of an impact our people have on the global greenhouse emissions and how we are paying an arm and a leg for it. It's just really silly.

Appreciate the comment. I was indeed surprised when she interrupted me because I was moving pretty quickly at that point and it did interrupt my flow.

Yeah, they only give you 5 minutes to get an entire point across so when they interrupt you it can affect your entire point. I get why they have to time things but if they're limiting time they should not interrupt.
