Why Block the Bridge?
In a recent truth social post Trump talked about how he wants to block the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, and he wants to do this because of the tensions between the USA and Canada regarding trade agreements. But from the sounds of this it seems like it would hurt the USA because the bridge is linked to Detroit and would allow for better transportation of automotive goods between Detroit and Windsor. So by preventing this from opening it would be hurting Canada but it would have more of a negative impact on the USA because we would be selling less cars.

On top of this Canada has been funding the entire bridge, which made Trump say he doesn't like because he doesn't want the USA to be dependent on Canadian infrastructure. But according to the 2012 Crossing Agreement, it says that the ownership would be split even though Canada and maintaining the bridge.

To me it just seems like he is playing a childish game where his ego cannot take the fact that Canada is an independent state from the US, and as such we can have separate deals with countries like China without asking the US for permission. And as such he feels the need to try and steamroll them with tariffs and trade war tactics.

I was wondering if anyone from Canada felt the same way or what we are thinking about it.

Edit Time/Date:
To me it just seems like he's getting angry because he's losing control of every country that isn't the USA. In theory Canada can outsource everything the USA brings to the table, now it would come with major costs but it is possible. It would be much easier to just let us go about our business with other countries as it does not involve the USA in the decision between our trade agreements.

And regarding Trump saying Canada owes the US, idk how he can slap tariffs on everything and then expect Canada not to retaliate or outsource in other ways. The LCBO removing American alcohol is the least of their concerns as growing resentment between Canada and the USA could possibly lead to the inability of trade in the future.

It just seems like everything is being blown away out of proportion and just because Canada operates in the interest of Canada and not in the interest of the United States, should not result in a complete halt of trade.
