Thanks for reaching out, and my apologies for the delay. We are in the final stretch of the campaign, but I wanted to make sure I took the time to answer your questions directly.
1. Why do you feel that you should continue to represent the Region of Waterloo?
I am running because I care deeply about Kitchener and Waterloo Region, and I want to continue serving the community my family and I call home. Having served our community both provincially and on Regional Council, I have seen firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with a rapidly growing region. Issues like affordability, housing, infrastructure, and responsible budgeting will require experienced and thoughtful decision-making over the next four years. I am proud of the work I’ve been part of, but there is more to do. I am running to continue bringing my experience, practical approach, and commitment to our community to the Regional Council table.
2. Were you encouraged to run for public office and if so by whom?
After my time serving as a MPP, I knew I wanted to continue serving the community in some way. I discussed the idea of running municipally with my family and with the residents who reached out to me. It was through those conversations that I eventually made the decision to run for Regional Council.
Best,
Michael HARRIS
