Okay, seriously… I just got off a flight, ate the “meal” they gave me, and I can’t stop thinking about it. How is airplane food still this bad in 2026? I mean, we have crazy tech, gourmet chefs, meal delivery apps, and yet somehow, airlines are still serving stuff that tastes like cardboard.

I get it, planes have tiny kitchens and food has to be reheated and stuff. But come on, surely in almost 20 years, someone could figure out a way to make in-flight meals not awful. Even on a short domestic flight, it’s basically a flavorless mush that you’re supposed to call “chicken” or “pasta.”

Is this just airlines being cheap? Or is it literally impossible to make food taste good at 30,000 feet? Because if it is, then honestly, I’d rather just skip it and eat snacks from home.

Oh man, I feel you. Last flight I was on, the “pasta” was basically glue. Like… how is this still a thing in 2026? I know that because you're at altitude your taste buds change so that's why things can taste dull or different. But still some of this food is abysmal and should not be served, because some of this food is just mush.

Seriously. And it’s wild how everyone just kind of shrugs and accepts it. I get the whole altitude and taste buds thing, but c’mon, some effort could go a long way.

Exactly!! I don’t need Michelin-level stuff, just something edible that doesn’t make me question my life choices mid-flight.

Honestly, I think it’s mostly about cost. Airlines want to cut expenses wherever they can, and food is an easy target. Also, the logistics of prepping and reheating… yeah, it’s tricky.

Same here. But it still bugs me that this hasn’t improved. I mean, technology is crazy these days, there’s no reason a meal has to be mushy and bland.
Lol, honestly, I think they don’t really care. People aren’t flying for the food, they’re flying to get somewhere. So why bother? That’s business logic for you.

Right?? It’s like the plane food industry gave up decades ago and we’re all just along for the ride.

Haha yes, exactly. I swear, one day someone’s going to crack the code and make a proper airline meal. I’ll believe it when I taste it.

Idk if someone else said this but your taste buds act differently when you're at altitude so things taste worse/ more plain, so that can be why a lot of the stuff doesn't taste good.

Ok good, I wasn't the only person who was thinking about this
