US military conduct another strike on alleged drug-trafficking boat

There have been multiple of these articles that have come across my screen in recent times on the news, and it seems that this kind of content is way too normalized in our media today.

To start out, the war on drugs is something that will be forever prevalent in our lives and it only gets worse, as people form other countries deliver these drugs into the USA it is clear that they will do nothing but harm the population. These drugs lead to death, gang wars and overall the degradation of society.

That being said, the men on these ships are still people and they are in this position because of the economic instability in their home countries. They are probably doing this as a means of survival not because they want to harm people.

So just because they are delivering drugs does that give the government the right to decide that they have to die when there are probably many other ways to put a stop to this.

As if they are already tracking the boats would it not be just as easy to bring a boat up next to them or meet them at the short in order to prevent them from offloading the drugs. That way they stop the flow of drugs and don't kill any people. It just seems like they're lazy and the use of force is unjustified for the crime, but I am wondering everyone else' opinions on the subject.

Another update on the situation, according to this article link below on CNN, there have been "121 killed" with bomb strikes under Operation Southern Spear. This article is regarding the exact that there was another ship bombed in which there were 2 killed and one survivor.

The fact that this is just another small headline on CNN is insane, and it happens every few days so clearly their efforts are for nothing as these people just keep coming over. The threat of these bombs is clearly not working as a deterrent and they need to find some other way to get these people thinking about the consequences before they go out on these boats.

The funny part to me is that all of these boats are alleged trafficking boats, which means they are not even 100% sure that there are drugs being transported. I just think that it has the possibility to go really wrong if they accidentally bomb and innocent boat.

It would cost a lot more to the government in the long run for them to try and capture these people. They would have to continuously follow them and then stop them from unloading the drugs. Then if they capture them they would have to use the resources to arrest them, write reports on everything collected and dispose of it and then hold the people in jail. And then deport them back to their country where they would probably do the same thing again. Not only this but it runs the risk of them getting away. All of that or they could just drop one bomb, it might not be the most peaceful thing but those people are there to do harm to the American population by selling drugs. So if they are not trying to be peaceful why should we?

Because at the end of the day even though they are doing something morally wrong, 2 wrongs do not make a right. Using the argument "They don't care so why should we" is inherently silly. Certain people prioritize different things but as a first world nation we shouldn't compromise morality just because it's easier.

I totally agree, the fact that we have progressed so much as a society but can bypass the idea of killing each other is so backwards to me.

You'd wish, but there is something with these political leaders using killing as a way of showing dominance and control. Clearly the threat of death did not stop these drug traffickers before what makes this time any different. The answer is nothing,

Saw this posted and Had to comment on it:

The fact that there have only been 13 survivors from the strikes but only 2 of the 13 who have truly survived and been deported to their home country is appalling. Out of 153 people in the strikes 2 have lived. This is an outrage and this timeline posted by CNN really shows how bad it truly is.

Are these bombings really worth all of the peoples lives?

Looking at this a bit more, the people who did survive were on one of the submarine type vessels they have. I watched a video on this and the submarines ones are the most stealthy and as such they carry the most product and the most important people. So unfortunately the survivors were probably not people trying to feed their family and instead were probably drug kingpins.
